Web design · UK

Hi, I’m Rhys. I build websites for businesses.

I’m Rhys. I build websites for businesses, organisations, groups, hobbyists and individuals. You deal with me directly from start to finish.

Whether you need a new website, an online shop, a redesign of something you already have, or just someone to keep your existing site running properly, I can help.

My main background is in WordPress and WooCommerce, but I’m also comfortable working with PHP, HTML and CSS when a custom approach makes more sense.

  • WordPress
  • PHP
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • WooCommerce
  • PayPal
  • Stripe
  • Google Business
  • Socials
  • cPanel
  • HestiaCP

I work with small and medium-sized businesses across the UK. Every project is different, so I don’t try to force every business into the same template or process. I take the time to understand what you actually need, explain what I’m doing, and build something that makes sense for your business.

You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts, regular communication while the site is being built, and a proper handover when it’s finished.

And if you’d rather not be left looking after it yourself afterwards, I can take care of that too.

Services

What I can do for you.

New website

Starting from scratch? We’ll talk through what you need, what you want the site to achieve and what will work best for you.

I’ll handle the design and build, make sure it works properly on phones and tablets, set up the things you need and get it live.

  • Website design and development
  • Mobile-friendly layouts
  • Contact forms and enquiries
  • WordPress or a suitable custom build
  • Help getting everything set up and live
  • A proper handover when the work is finished

You don’t need to know anything about HTML, hosting or WordPress before we start. That’s my job.

Online shop

If you want to sell online, I can build and set up a WooCommerce shop that gives your customers a straightforward way to browse your products and pay.

That includes connecting the payment services you need, organising your products and making sure the whole process works properly.

  • Product listings and categories
  • Shopping cart and checkout
  • PayPal and Stripe payments
  • Mobile-friendly shopping
  • Connections to your social media and online listings
  • A shop you can add products to yourself later

I’ll also make sure you understand how it works before handing it over. You shouldn’t need to call a developer every time you want to add a new product.

Redesigns

Sometimes a website doesn’t need throwing away. It just needs some attention.

If your current site is outdated, difficult to use or simply doesn’t represent your business anymore, I can work with what you already have or rebuild it properly where that’s the better option.

The aim isn’t change for the sake of change. It’s to make the site clearer, easier to use and more useful to the people visiting it.

  • A fresh design and structure
  • Clearer, easier-to-use pages
  • WordPress theme work or a custom build
  • Improvements to existing websites
  • Mobile and usability improvements
  • A site that’s easier to manage going forward

And if there are things about the existing site that are worth keeping, we’ll keep them.

Website care

Getting a website online is only part of the job.

WordPress, plugins and themes need updating. Backups need checking. Occasionally something breaks, or you simply need a small change made and don’t have the time to deal with it yourself.

If you want someone to look after those things, I can stay involved after the initial project is finished.

  • WordPress, plugin and theme updates
  • Backups
  • Small fixes and changes
  • Text and image updates
  • General website maintenance
  • Someone you can actually contact when you need help

Rather than having to explain your website to a different person every time something needs changing, you can just come back to me.

Look

The sort of site I like to build.

These examples are fictional, but they give you an idea of the different types of businesses and styles I can work with.

The important thing isn’t whether your business looks like one of these. It’s making sure the finished website looks like your business.

  • Fictional consultancy website, Northline Advice

  • Fictional plant shop website, Leaf Room

How it works

Nice and simple.

  1. 01

You tell me what you need.

You don’t need to prepare a technical specification or know exactly what you want before getting in touch.

Send me a few details about your business, your existing website if you have one, and what you’d like to achieve.

I’ll read it properly and come back to you.

If it’s easier to talk, we can have a call instead. Sometimes that’s much quicker than trying to explain everything by email.

  2. 02

I’ll give you an honest quote.

Once I understand what you’re looking for, I’ll tell you what I think needs doing, how I’ll approach it, roughly how long it should take and what it’ll cost.

You’ll get it in writing, so there are no surprises halfway through the project.

And if I don’t think I’m the right person for what you need, I’ll tell you that too.

I’d rather turn down a job than take your money for something I can’t do properly.

  3. 03

    Then we build it together.

This is where I think working with a small, independent web developer makes a real difference.

You’re not passed from a salesperson to a project manager and then to someone you’ve never spoken to.

    You deal with me.

I’ll build the site, show you how it’s coming together and listen to your feedback as we go.

We’ll make changes where they make sense and keep working on it until you’re happy with the result.

Once everything is ready, I’ll get it live and make sure you know what you need to know.

And if you’d like me to look after the website afterwards, I can do that too.

I’ll come back with a yes, a no, or a quote.
